Just to give an idea of what I shoot

I hope that this is the right place to post this...

I just figured that I'd throw up a few sample images so folks could see the type of things that I do. Please do not hesitate to be critical.

This was taken in Jacksonville Beach Florida. I got up early to try to catch some sunrise shots but it was very hazy, decided to play ith colors and textures. This was taken with an Olympus 3MP point and shoot.

This is actually a shot that almost could have been taken from my apartment. It was done with my Cannon T3 using aperture priority.

The following danged bird did NOT like my camera and I caught this shot just after he dive bombed me. It was done with the Olympus point and shoot. If this critter looks to be ticked off in the image that is probably because he was! Don't know why but I just don't seem to be able to get a good showing of this image. It just seems to be a bit more washed out than what I have on my system...

Just one more sample then I won't bore you any more. This was taken at an air show in Jacksonville Beach Florida with the Olympus.

    Thanks Jay. Nice stuff.

The beach shot is a beauty. That one of the bird looks as if there's a sandstorm blowing through. It's very low contrast. Don't know what would happen if you adjusted the black & white points.

Hi, Jay. If that owl buzzed you it likely had a nest nearby. They don't build a conventional nest. Look for a hole in a tree or a crotch where the trunk splits or a large branch joins the trunk. You might get some baby owl shots. Love the colors of the sunrise (I assume since Jax Beach faces east). It might be even more interesting if you included the waterline and a bit of sand at the bottom of the frame.

You mean something like this? No opportunities with the Owl. That was shot several years ago and I'm no longer in Florida.

    Hi Jay,

Welcome to the CiC forums from me.

The owl shot could easily be improved in PP, as Donald suggests.

I notice these have been through PaintShopPro 13 and although that may have been a while ago, I am sure it could manage it, if you'd like to restore the lacking contrast.

    Cheers,

I'm going to try uploading the owl again. That first upload just isn't right... OK, this looks better. Don't know what the deal was with the first, same image unless I messed up and uploaded something I was experimenting with; that is quite possible. .

In that case I'll throw up some more. This was actually a hard decision as I didn't want to bore people with a bunch, I restricted myself to four. Please keep in mind that these are not really shots of anything specific. I was playing with light and texture.

    Hi Jay,

    Nice shots.

Perhaps in this owl shot, you can crop off or darken that bright lower right . Then, lighten the owl and/or blur the background so it stands out above the pine needles/branches.

I guess, that's part of shooting wildlife. They naturally blend into their environment making it harder to spot them.

Making it to hard shoot them too!

    Cheers
