    The Mulberry Tree...

At Ft. Desoto County Park in Pinellas County Florida there is a Mulberry Tree. I early April the tree begins to bear fruit, attracting birds on their migration north. It is a refueling station for them. Any nature photographer who knows of the tree makes a pilgrimage in their lifetime. Yesterday was my first, tomorrow will be my second. I apologize for the length of this post but I wanted to share these images. C&C welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

These are nice, Joe. I enjoy them also because most of these birds I've never seen before.

    Birds of the Mulberry Tree

Thank you John, Terri, and Octavio for viewing and commenting on the images I posted. I apologize for not answering sooner but I was away shooting more images. It is a long hot summer in Florida and the birds are limited to residents, so having images on file to work up makes the summer shorter.

I'm not a birder and I don't appreciate photos of birds, but this set of images is exactly what color photography is all about. I especially like the two photos where the colors of the bird matches the colors of the fruit. Very well done!

I really like the 2nd image, Joe, and for the same reasons Mike mentioned. I like the way the black and red on the bird are reiterated in the adjacent black and red berries. I also think a bit of cropping from the bottom - and possibly top, too -- would enhance this shot. Well done.

Great images Joe, the Mulberry tree brought back memories from my schooldays as we had branches hanging over our schoolyard from a neighboring property, got in trouble a few times from mum coming home with Mulberry stains on my shirt.

Amazing how many species you had visiting the tree, wish I had been there

    Well done

Hello Harry, thank you for viewing and commenting. I also had a Mulberry Bush in the neighborhood of my youth.
