Hi Krista,
When shooting sunsets like this you want a little warmth in the image. Using auto WB will neutralise the warmth of the late afternoon. Using either programmed WB (sunset) or manual WB tuning the Kelvin temp to around 8000-9000K will render the scene much warmer.
I like the idea and it is a very pleasing scene.
