Attached are 2 images, each with a different treatment.

Please tell me what you think?

I like both - but I think I would have cropped in further on the first as you have lost so much of the detail

Yes, you have lost much of the water detail in the first one, but I wouldn't want to lose what you do have, on the right. I just wonder if we aren't seeing this image at its best; and this is one of those cases where a thin black border would help to 'hold everything together'.

I suspect I would try a little bit of a crop from the top and right side of #2. Merely to reduce the heavy dark brown area at the top which I find a little too overpowering.

Thank you for your input, Kaye and Geoff.
Here is #1 with no crop and no selective color adjustment (I had boosted the white). I converted to B&W and dodged the goose. I had blown the highlights, so the water detail that I show is what I had, even with recovery in RAW. I am sorry I could not provide a better image.

Here is #2 with the suggested crop

I think that is very good. It's not as 'harsh' as the first version above. I feel, in other words, that there is a better harmony in the tones. It's one of those 'appears a very simple image', but that is its strength.

Thank you, Donald for your input.

I meant for both the images to be simple. I understand what you are conveying. I had not considered the "harmony in the tones", but it definately makes a better image.
