Hot Spring Textures
These photos were taken at Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park. I was simply enjoying the textures that are created by mineral deposition, hydration, or lack therof, and the distribution of organisms that add color depending on the temperature of the water. Comments appreciated.

Re: Hot Spring Textures
I enjoyed following the C&C on your previous shot of this subject and wanted to say that this is cetrtainly an interesting and challenging subject for photography. Of this set I really like the composition of #2 and wonder if some of the PP suggestions made in your previous thread might be applied to this shot and also if you had a bit more room at the top of that shot to really showcase the steam?

Re: Hot Spring Textures
Hi Shane, thanks for the comments. I wish I could apply the PP suggestions but I only use Lightroom 4 and I don't know how to make the changes in that environment. The last two photos are cropped from much larger photographs. I was trying to simply play with the textures. There is more room in the photo but I felt that including it took away from my goal.
I may get a chance to return to Yellowstone this spring to photograph some more. Perhaps I can use these photos to improve the next set. The comments from you and others will certainly help.

Re: Hot Spring Textures
Hi Chuck,
I'm loving the textures in the first image!
Challenging subject.
Would love to see it in B&W.
Thanks for sharing.
