    waterlily pads & reflections - B&W

Another shot from my recent photo vacation. Some waterlily pads in a beaver pond. Please let me know what you think; in particular I can't decide which crop is best, but I think I prefer the first one that removes more of the right side, hiding the flat lily pad. I think the photo is more balanced that way, and it keeps the focus on the 3 main leaves. Thanks!

Edit- I just noticed that a few areas are oversharpened (mostly the upper edges of the leaves). I'll fix that later.

v4 with flat lilypad cloned out on right (per Kevin's suggestion)

    Hi, Matt,

I agree with removing the flat lily pad, but you might try doing it without the crop, but by cloning instead. I'd like to see about the same space beside each of the raised plants, as in #3

Matt, I really like your composition. Maybe my eyes are deceiving me but your first photo seems to have more contrast in it -- which I like. If you have access to toning I would try some different color tones. Nice job.

Matt, I saw this earlier today at work and have been back to it a couple times. It is a beautiful shot (with or without the lily pad) and the mono conversion enhances the graphic quality of the image immensely - well seen!

Totally works for me. I do like the space on the right included but I'm completely on the fence whether I prefer the final vs. crop #3. Both are just excellent.
