    Lone egret

Just going through a bunch of shots I took last month. Had a couple early mornings at the beach when the little egrets were very active. There must have been 10-15 of them digging sand crabs and chasing each other.

I really like this image. The contrast of the bird and water is beautiful.

    Hi Bud,

Shooting a pure white subject like this against a dark background like that - not easy at all, if you want to show what the background is. I read a comment made by Morkel Erasmus, a wildlife photographer, on an image he shot himself. He said it was not the best of shots because the light was crappy. Maybe in this instance the light was also a bit crappy.

It is a nice composition and I like the idea. Maybe you should have concentrated more on getting the exposure right on the bird rather than trying to get the overall exposure right.

    Thanks for sharing.
