I like this image a lot, Miguel. This is a very moving and emotional image for me. I also like that you chose to use B&W. Thanks for sharing this.

Nice photo, Miguel. Did you try to darken the pillar a little when converting to B&W? That may bring out the subject a little more. Nice conversion though...

    Re: Who are you?

This has the making of being SUCH a wonderful photo, Miguel. Congratulations! My thinking about that explains why I just have to follow up on your discussion with Phil.

When I view your image, the very first thing that I see is the bright spot on the tree that Phil mentioned. The second thing that I see is the adorable child. I'm sure you agree that the child should be the first thing that you want your viewers to see.

It took me about 30 seconds to select that bright spot and tone it down. I also took another 30 seconds to tone down the bright light on the right side in the background. I'm sure I could do a better job of it if I took a few more minutes and had your original full-size file to work with. But now that I have done this, do you still think the process takes too much work? More importantly, do you like the version below better? (If not, don't hesitate to mention why.)

    Hi Mike
Yes I agree 100% with you,but I'm still viewing that this area was retouched,This is the main reason why I prefer to leave like I post.
I really appreciate you comment, time and experience.

    Great shot.
Have you tried a bit of a crop - maybe like this?

    Hope you don't mind.

    Re: Who are you?

I'm all new to photography, so I don't see as much as everyone else does in an image, meanin where improvements might be needed..but what i actually like about the light spot is the story the image tells..to me it almost looks like the child seems to be reaching for the light..in some way, almost tentatively? Almost as if she's not allowedn.because she knows the photographer is watching and for some reason she feels she can't go there.. I prefer the original..tells more of the story to me.. Sometimes I feel PP can just take away that story. Especially the last cropped image..it completely changes the girls attitude in her eyes.( Or is it just me) Great image. These are the kind of images that inspired to make photography a hobby of mine..I only hope one day an image of mine can inspire like yours has done.
