    Monochrome street scenes in Jerusalem

I don't often do street photography, but I did nab a few while vacationing in Jerusalem. The last one isn't truly a street scene, but it is a similar genre that was taken while walking one of the walls of the Old City.

All of these photos were captured in 2010 and converted today to monochrome. C&C encouraged, though I have nothing to ask.

Another good set of images, Mike.

.... is a wonderful capture. If you'd been on a commission to produce images to illustrate a book about what life is like for the young people of the city, this would have definitely made it.

    Hi Mike

    Excellent Pics.
You managed quite nicely to capture some of the spirit of the Muslim Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem.
    +1

    cheers

Thank you, Donald. That shot of the basketball players is one of a whopping total of two sports photos that I have made in my entire life. I got really lucky on that one.

    Thank you also to Wolf!

All very nice, although the archway in photo#1 spoils the gentlemen's shape.

Yes, I have always had misgivings about that.

Most excellent. These shots really make me want to go back. Unfortunately, I was there about 7 years ago (well before any CiC influence) and I think I could do a much better job of capturing the essence of the place now. It is such a busy place, it was a major accomplishment just to isolate your subjects so well.

Thanks, Kevin. If I remember correctly, the first two photos were taken very early in the morning before even most of the shopkeepers had arrived. (The EXIF data indicating when the shot was captured is never reliable because I rarely remember to change the clock in my camera.) The problem was finding interesting people to shoot that time of day, not isolating them from the crowds.

Did you only shoot the one? I have to force myself to take more than one shot especially with moving figures; which should be standard practice when trying to get these type of shots.

I don't remember. I only know that this is the only one that I kept. I'm sure I didn't capture it when the man was positioned with a plain background, as I surely would have kept it.
