These are about what I achieve most of the time, but then you're not too far away and subject to the same dull UK weather.
Ideally they'd be a bit sharper, but I see you were struggling for light and already wide open, 1/50, 1/160s and 1/100s at iso up to 1000, so really not much more to be done.
I went out today (in the sunshine for once), but not much happening.
I like the crops and exposure on these.

yes , unfortunately although the sun was out , my back garden does not really get any of it but it,s all good practice
and tomorrow is another day .
I yes, I know that problem Steve - too many trees around, and even though many are without leaves at this time year, the sun is low in the sky. Then again, even when I get it, through most of the day it just makes 'em backlit!
It is good practice and you get to learn their behaviour while watching them too.
