Frosty Day In the Snohomish Valley

I know, another lone tree photo, but I couldn't resist. Frost on North side hill and the "Lone Tree" just screamed B&W as I drove by and the sun was coming out. Canon 70-200mm 2.8L IS Canon 5D Markll 105mm Circular Polarizer. Nik Silver Efex Pro 2, green filter, structure, contrast

Nicely seen, Jon. It was a bit frosty out. Looks like all that is about to change though....rain tomorrow?

Lovely shot. It looks like an infra-red image...

Jon, I really like the light on the trees. Of course I haven't seen it in color, but the b&W version is very nice.

You might want to crop about 1/3 of the image from the top down. It seems to me you will draw more attention to the really interesting portion of the shot.

Wow! Isn't it great when you can get that kind of impact from a drive-by? I'm kind of torn between the crop that Chuck mentioned or the version you show ... I get some drama from the clouds at the top of the frame. Either way it's great!

    Hi Jon,

I really like this and I am also going to suggest a crop from the top, but just 20%.

Very nice processing, loads of detail, very hard to do.

    Cheers,

cropped as Dave sugested. I wish I had included more foreground, but alas, somethings just aren't automatic with me and compositions. yet. Learning curve..............

And straight from the Raw so you can see probably why B&W works so much better for this shot. Kind of dreary NW colors

Very nice conversions. I like the last one best.

Cold winter shots in colour somehow tend to come out like that for me too, even at close up range. Wonder why that happens. Generally conditions are crisp and clean but ...
