    Colorful Drink

Very nice people here at CiC have helped me make photos of this glass by itself during the last few days. They didn't know that I was actually leading up to the photo shown below, which I have envisioned for weeks. To be precise, I envisioned it without the tabletop and it was only as I worked with it today that I got the idea of using an edgy tabletop to add drama.

I have long-term plans for a series of photos called "Incongruity." Does this photo tell a story that is a good fit with that theme?

All other C&C encouraged as well.

    Beautiful creation.

But you will never get me to drink that blue stuff inviting as it may be.

Thanks, Bobo! I would certainly prevent you from drinking the blue stuff. Some liquids are to be poured into a glass only for their color.

    Mike,

I really like the way the green stem came out on this one. The concept of the different colors really works and I look forward to seeing the "edgy" table top. Got the book Light;Science and Magic from the library it will be fun to work through it since I am a fair weather photographer and 25 is just a little cool for me to poke around outside although it does make for some glorious sunrises. Thanks for the reference.

    Fantastic work Mike.
I can see the quality difference in lighting compared to my whiskey image.
Gives me something to aspire to.
    Cheers, Greg

    Thanks, everyone!

I think this photo is my favorite of all of them that I have made so far in my makeshift studio. It was especially gratifying that it turned out exactly as I envisioned. That's partly because I learned from photographing the glass by itself what to expect about how the lighting would affect it.

Just in case anyone is interested in the recipe for this cocktail, it's 100% Windex (the glass cleaner). The glass isn't without flaws but it sure is clean.

A special nod to Sharon for what all of us hope will be a return to her usual appearances on the boards, especially the presentation of her unbelievably artistic flowers. Get crackin', Sharon! (Ummm, that's an American expression, perhaps one that we shouldn't be proud of.)

Sorry, Connie, as it appears that I confused you. The so-called edgy tabletop that I mentioned is in the above photo. I initially envisioned the photo so that everything other than the glass, liquid and straw would be solid black with no horizon.

Stay in touch about the book. Hope you enjoy it!

Thank you Mike..that's very kind. I have really missed this place and hopefully I am back fighting fit and ready for C&C.
......though flowers may not be on the menu for a little while..

Answer: Yes, I think it does. It's kind of a love-hate relationship. Love your processing and lighting; hate the color combination. (Hate is too strong a word here. Let's just say do not care for.)

Great and instructive as all of your glass work is, Mike.
What is incongruous to me is the graceful glass that beckons something elegant, like a red or white wine, water, gin or something versus the the bubblegum/jujubee/skittles setup with the background light, fluid, and straw. The colors of the latter three would be more appropriate for a polka dot sippy cup. Or am I missing the point?
