The durability of the CF card always astounds me. There are numerous tales of CF cards going through the clothes washer and dryer cycles without permanent damage.

However, this tale takes the cake!

I am not sure that an SD card would be equally as durable...

Why not Richard? The flat contacts have greater area to cope with corrosion :-)
Have any of your dogs chewed one like the African lion or German Polar Bear?
When is Nikon going to come up with a similar story or do Nikon camera owners respect and care for their cameras better?

I think most of us have a misconception of electronic parts and PC boards. I have seen a computer motherboard completely submerged in water to wash out honey, (Do not carry your Laptop in the same bag as your groceries.) dried out properly, assembled again, switched on and working perfectly.

I understand that there is no real danger of damage as long as there is no power going trough the submerged component.

It is a little strange that it is mostly Canon users whom seem to destroy their cameras, wonder why.

'cos it's the only way we can justify an upgrade
