    Christmas Family confrontation

Okay, not a great shot, I admit. But hey, what a story it tells. Was taken by Mrs Ucci with new 'toy', an SX50 on full X50 zoom hand held; an opportunistic shot taken in a hurry before they took off over the hill. At the itme I estimate the foxes were around 300 metres away.
Not often will one see two foxes and a female roo with a very large joey in her pouch in such close proximity and interacting as these were.
Just thought some folk might like to see this. Thanks for viewing. And in closing could I wish all CIC members a safe and prosperous 2013. May it be a good year for you all, full of great photo opportunities.

Would the foxes take on a Kangaroo, or only the Joey?

    Neither Ken
Roos make great mums and are very protective. A fox would get its ears well and truly boxed if it tried to have a go at her joey. We got a shot last year of a wedge tailed eagle swooping on a joey. But its Mum was quick to react and sent the eagle on its way, quick smart.

Yeah and I love both too but the fact is that foxes, as an introduced species which have done a huge amount of damage to certain native animals, are regarded as vermin here. But they are cute. And Ken's right, the foxes would definitely come out second best tangling with a roo with a joey. Regards to all for the new year.

    Hi ken,
You say this picture was taken by Mrs Ucci with her new 'toy' does that mean she's joining up to CiC?
If your wife is capturing shots like this, you better watch out, you might be the one holding her camera kit bag in the future.

As always thanks for sharing and Happy New Year to you both.
    Kind regards
    John
