No doubt Uncle Frodo was looking for a bird for his nephew Bobo to photograph. Very cool!

No he was'nt. He is old in the tooth and those eyes may look like lanterns but he has terrible eyesight. How else would he have hit the tree? Nuts to drive that roadster at his age.
Anyway just noticed something - this image has not been sharpened but there is a halo around the hat. He is not a holy person so has to be from the flash deflecting light off the edge ??
Now how to fix and avoid that in the future is the question.
Notice that your background is not evenly lit. Your lighting lit the background more brightly in that area (as well as other areas). For me, the so-called halo around the hat is not at all a distraction. It would be distracting if the background was otherwise lit evenly, but it's not.
Whew! thanks.
I have been trying to avoid an evenly lit background firstly because don't know how. As an excuse I use whatever shadow areas there are for effect. Saved a few bucks and what little black hair there is...![]()
Week 3.
Larry and his boss Moe were out for a walk in the woods and discuss business strategies.
Moe is not a nice person - both cowardly and a bully.
Larry was of course not too keen but what choice did he have? Bootlick or ...
Darwin the Gorilla appeared out of nowhere.
Like common cowards/bullies Moe retreated from the greater force, tripped, and fell to the ground.
Now, Larry is a really smart guy and a great salesman.
He saw a great opportunity and took it!
"Darwin, I will give you 6 playmates if you finish off this guy - Yes, SIX!"
"Not enough" Darwin replied.
"Ok, ok, I will add 6 bottles of great wines from Mike's and Greg's cellar".
"Sounds good" Darwin said. "Agreed only if they bring their gear and make a record of my joy".

Just remember that my wine that you give to Darwin is wine that won't be available to drink when you visit me.
I am just glad Larry didn't offer up my Devils Cut![]()
Mike and Jon - I remember loss of and remember the hidden treasure. The Devil's Cut was going next if Darwin had bargained harder.
Btw, are we not supposed to talk about the pics?
Your stories are getting better Bobo, you should write a children's novel.
I like the positioning of the characters, good eye contact.
What did you use for lighting .
Cheers, Greg
Thanks Greg.
Nothing much really - a black tshirt as the "ground", kitchen wall for background, heavily diffused off camera flash on top of refrigerator at camera left. The 2 figures are pretty reflective and had to use many different angles to get the one with the least amount of highlights. Then in PS cloned out the remaining bits.
I enjoyed the story, the composition and yes you handled the reflections very well. Every thing is nice and sharp except for Larry's face, he looks a little bit soft to me, or it could be that I am viewing on iPad and not the big screen??
Thanks Greg.
Shiny objects will always present some problems. While those can be reduced a nicely filtered lightbox maybe the solution. But no expert on that and cannot say for sure if they will. Guess we need to look around for more stills work and see how others handle the issues in conditions similar to ours.
About story books - I was asked about 10 years ago to do something like that but did not take it up. Too much stress when you are doing it for publication especially.
Thanks Jon.
Yes Larry is. Looked ok on the LCD and only noticed it on the monitor later. Should have done a shot focused on each of the objects and then merged.

Most likely I am going to miss today's deadline due to lack of time. Will try to get something later in the evening if I can.
Not that anyone is waiting with bated breath but thought it would be polite to mention.![]()
If I was in charge of the Fest rules (I'm not), I would be willing to bend them to allow you to post a day or two late.
Bobo, I am in the same boat. Not enough time in the day, mine started at 2am and just got done. Thank goodness I am changing jobs come Friday.
Hehe, I might just have time after getting in from a dinner with friends. Maybe should get more vino in and get better results. Wife will have to drive of course so I can have hers as well.
Jon, dedication.. Congrats on the new job.
You definitely get the award for the best stories to go along with the pics. For me, this one is the best one of your Fest series. I realize that you're not trying to distribute the tones all the way to the right side of the histogram, but try brightening it a bit just to see if you like it.
