    Brown Pelicans...

I shot these last Saturday and worked them up over the weekend and today. This bird dives from the air to feed. A sight to behold watching them fold their wings and plummet towards the water. C&C welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Nice colorful Pelicans Joe. I do think the rocks in 1 and the water in to are a little over saturated though.

Thanks Paul, I am working with a new display instead of my laptop. I color profiled it but it takes getting used to. Also I find when doing many images in a day it is easy to saturate more and more, kind of like building a tolerance to color... needing more and more. I reworked the images and reposted. Thank for pointing out what you saw.

No worries Joe, it certainly improved them for me.

You must live in a fascinating area, you always have great shots of so many different birds than we have in Oregon. I especially like #1 it looks as though they are planning their morning and #4 is a good one also.

Great shots. I especially like #4. It reminds me somehow of a WW-II German Stuka dive bomber...

Good action shots. Nice and sharp. 1/2000 is just about right for the 'dive' by the looks of it.

Joe, nice work as usual. For some reason I really like #3. I think it's because the bird appears to be at a unique moment in flight, and it seems to grab my attention and make me examine it more. Keep 'em coming!

Hello Connie, Florida is wonderful for bird photography. Winter here is best with the migrating birds adding to the resident population. The marshes at the wildlife reserves along with fishing piers the extend well out into the water provide great oppurtunities. Thank you for viewing and commenting.

Thanks Richard, Pelicans are amazing to watch when feeding. They are like, as you say dive bombers crashing into the water from the air. They just kind of fold their wings and dive, only using their wings to control their flight as they dive.

Hello Monte, I missed you posting recently. Thank you for viewing and commenting, very much appreciated. At the speed they come crashing down at least 1/2000 or faster.

Hello Matt, thank you for viewing and commenting. I like #3 also, the Pelcian was in full fall. In the next image the wings are extended gaining control before hitting the water.
