    Cormorants lined up

There were about 30 of these birds lined up at waters edge, taken at Lake Balboa a man made lake.Cormorants lined up

This is one really cool shot. The detail on the wings and beak and the sharp eyes are superb.

Ours are really shy and stay quite a distance away.

That one at the end could have been more cooperative and opened its beak just a little bit!

The skill in this image, I think, is, in the first place, having seen the picture that was there to be made. Wonderful vision.

This is a fantastic composition Roger.

I think the one on the right is either rude or just not able to perfectly synchronized to the others.

    Great shot Roger, well done

The only thing I'd change is to clone out the small red spot in top right corner.

Agree with all that's been said. Their eyes really are beautiful and unusual, aren't they? Great job!

I am continually amazed at how well all of the photographers on this site have trained the birds to pose for them. They must, the birds that is, enjoy the limelight and praise they know the pictures will receive. I have never paid particular attention to the birds locally except when watching them in my Mom's backyard with her. When the spring comes they are going to be on the top of my list, maybe I can train a few of my own. The feather detail is beautiful, would make for a great pattern on a quilt or wood carving.

Very well done Roger. These guys do have an interesting look to the feather and a fantastic eye. You have done a nice job right from spotting the scene through PP.
