    Rock Shack

    Hi

    I was invited to a rock venue and decided to take my camera and the 50mm f1.8 to practise some low light photography.

    Here's 2 shots that I think didn't come out too bad. I didn't use any flash so was at f1.8 and either on ISO 800 or 1600. And because of the poor autofocus of the lens I used manual.

    Let me know what you think.

    That was worth waiting for!

    These are, I think, really good. The lighting on the face in the first one is particularly dramatic.

    I may try a slight crop from the bottom and left side of #1.

    Good lighting and focus under difficult conditions, as previously mentioned.

    Thanks guys. Will try the crop but I also think that's what it needs.

    Both shots are good and I know rock shows can be very difficult due to poor lighting the famous Whiskey A Go-Go in Hollywood lighting system sucks.

    Haha, I had to google Whiskey A Go-Go to understand that one. True about the lighting and these guys tend to jump around alot.

    Hi Paul,

    I think these have indeed "not come out too bad".

    My suggestions to improve would be;
    #1 clone out the bright spot top right

    #2 clone out the object in lower right corner, plus the spot slightly to left of it and possibly the shadow behind his back

    I prefer the composition of #2, but the lighting of #1

    Cheers,
