24 Scottish Stone Masons & Painting with Light

This is Barrenjoey Lighthouse. Built in the 19th century by 24 Scottish stone masons. It is still operational and part of a national park.

The image was taken as part of a workshop held by 2 photographers Murray Vanderveer and Peter Solness. It was great fun and although this is a rough edit it opens lots of possibilities.... All of the light is from torches (flashlights) except for the lighthouse light itself and the ships out at sea. I hope it raises a smile.

    Peter's website is http://www.illuminated-landscape.com
Murray can be seen on http://www.murrayvanderveer.com

I think there should be a credit here for the torch artist (or was that you as well, Graham). That's a pretty impressive piece of light painting.

And, of course, it must be a very high quality lighthouse, given that it was built by Scotsmen!

    Sharon and Donald,

thanks but, no the torch artist was Peter Solness. His work is prize winning. I discussed my problems with flower photos with him and I think I will be doing some light painting.

The lighthouse is still running after 131 years. The stone work is still in amazing condition. Your Scotsmen make good stone masons, oh and they weren't convicts. Lots of our stone work was done by convicts.
