    Old Man

Here's another one from the bush, this old gentleman is a known artist and keeper of ceremonies in the remote islands of Arnhem Land. Djali enjoys just relaxing and meeting his cultural obligations in his old age. This was taken on our first meeting so I didn't ask him to pose, no real need to when he is such a picture just doing nothing. I just ask him if I could take his picture and he quietly nodded his approval. C&C appreciated.Old Man

Thanks Mark, definitely a good subject. i too like more contrast but in this instant I couldn't see his eye so backed it off a bit. He never opened his right eye so I assumed there was a reason, but I prefer to capture the eyes.

    Hi Wayne,

Again you have captured the wisdom and essence of a very special man. I am fast becoming a fan of your work with the Aboriginals. You have a natural connection with them that tells a powerful story through your photos.

    Well done.

Really nice, Wayne. Very tricky exposure situation with that backlighting, and I think you pulled it off very well. Have you tried a version in which you removed the loose hair strand that crosses his left eye? I'm not sure if it would really improve anything, but I'd probably try and compare.

Thanks Kevin, always a pleasure to photograph an elder.
