    Warning, Parental Guidance Suggested

Photograph not for the faint hearted. The link below only gets you to the webpage, which has some very good photojournalism entries throughout. If you want to see the gory image, look at the entry of the second place winner Javier Cebollada. This photo is a good example of following the action, being at the right place at the right time, and just plain good photography.

Talk about timing! Ouch. There are some good images there. Thanks for sharing John.

Thanks John that's an amazing site. Lots of links that I've spent half an hour wandering around in and will be going back later. The Portraits and International News categories were a good start.

I' really glad the subtext mentioned the bullfighter walked away from that-doesnt seem even remotely possible.

He was eating through a straw for a year though!

Serves him right really - a pretty barbaric 'sport'

Interesting that the top shot was a simple camera on a tripod, continual high burst using a remote trigger, especially considering the effort made by the photographer taking the shot upwards through the shoal of fist to record the start of the iron man race

Yup timing is everything. Not sure how #2 got 2nd place, it is not all that great an image compared to 1 and 3.

If you get a chance check each photographer to see if they have a website. You might find more interesting shots and a few have FAQs listed.

I agree. It's a social dynamic that I'll never understand to be honest; at best you get to go home at night with the same standard of health that you enjoyed when you woke up in the morning, at worst - well - you all know the answer. All risk, no reward. And I'm definitely not a fan of how the animal is treated.

    There may be hope however

There is something odd about the concept of 'Solo' synchronised swimming but that was a great shot.

I attended a bullfight years ago for the very first time, and I knew ahead of time that you aren't supposed to cheer for the bull, but from a distance seeing the matador bounced around was weirdly exciting. I think this was because the matador chose to be in the ring, the bull has no choice.
