    Jo-Anna head on in Infrared

Early morning steam on a cold winters day. Engine preserved by Friends of The Rail - a volunteer group of enthusiasts. Taken just outside Cullinan near Pretoria South Africa. Old converted Nikon D70 and post-processed in Elements 10 with a channel mixer plug-in. Also looks great in B&W.

Michael, I really like this image. I get a sense of the power of the locomotive. Nicely captured.

Powerful indeed. The main reason why steam engines hold so much fascination even to this day (for photographers anyway).

    Do post the b/w.

Michael I am not a fan of the IR-like images but in this case the surrealistic color tonalities give an interesting feeling to the image. Also like the BW one.

Michael, you did a wonderful job. Of course the IR changes the coloring, but gives the image another dimension for us to enjoy. The only suggestion I have is to lighten the front of the engine so we can see a bit more detail.

I love this shot. It displays raw power! However, I wonder how a bit more space to the left of the image would have looked...

Take full marks for this one Jo-Anna!.....This is where IR shines. I have a converted 5D mk2 which I am experimenting with... when time permits!...cheers ,Chris.
