    Standing Guard

This dog belongs to one of my neighbours. He and his buddy wander around the neighbourhood and visit us occasionally.
This one is extremely shy, and although he doesn't run away, you can't get really close to him.
But he knows where we keep the food bowl!
In this picture he had just wandered in, and started to look around to see if it was safe to proceed....I guess. It was one of the few times I had a chance to take his picture from the front instead of his tail!
He is blind in one eye - and since that the way he is, I decided against trying to make his eyes match.

Nice shot of a dog. However, I am just not keen on letting a dog wander around the neighborhood from house to house. It is dangerous to the dog. I must say that this might be a geographic thing. When I visit Texas, I seem to see more dogs running free than I do here in rural California. And, so many of them get hit by cars.

This is in a wooded area with barely any traffic.
Most properties are not fenced in, so, the dogs are wandering around the neighbourhood whenever they feel like it. Some also have a tendency of laying in the middle of the (dirt)road, and sometimes I really have to get out the car to make them move out of the way. As if the road really belongs to them.....
We're here mostly on weekends though. In town, there's a leash law.

No, he belongs to a neighbour who lives about 2 miles down the road.

Looks like it may be an Australian Cattle Dog cross...
