    Cheetah B&W

When lying down a Cheetah has a very low profile, this female raised her head in response to a background noise adding interest to the picture. The low morning sun catches her face and lights up the thin grass stems.
    C&C welcomed.

Another nice capture Clive, the only thing that bothers me is the edges appear darker than the centre. Is that deliberate?

    Great capture.

Recently I saw an ad for the Galaxy S3 which is all b/w and uses a lot of animals. The animal (and people) shots were awesome.

Excellent bit of work, Clive. You really 'got-the-moment'. Had you been holding on hoping for this (raising her head)? Something of a unique shot, I'd say.

Great image, Clive, I never experiment with B&W, but your image shows me why I should. I assume that the vignetting is deliberate, it works for me and brings her head properly into the centre of attention.

I would be interested to know where, when (i.e. time of day) , and how you captured the shot. You seem lower than on an average safari vehicle.

Hi Wayne, thanks for the comments and yes maybe a bit heavy on the vignette but I really wanted to focus on the head.

    Hi Bobo, many thanks.

Hi Donald, thank you, it was a case of waiting and hoping. The moment arose when another vehicle approached and I felt she would look to see what the noise was about.

Hi Dave, many thanks for the comments, B&W with the right subject can be very powerful and can be geat fun as well as a challenge and throws a completely different perspective on how you view animals. This was taken in the Tuli Block (NE Botswana) at around 0730hrs. In the vehicle we were slightly below her as she was lying on a small incline, she was about 20metres away so the distance helped to reduce the height perspective.

Hi Clive, I've PM'd you. I guess I shouldn't chat about Africa in CiC
