    I put a similar question to the Guardian newspaper's Jack not so long ago... I haven't had time yet to read this thread (just back from holiday) so I don't know how the opinions expressed there compare to those expressed here.     From what I now read, current SSDs have much better write speeds than HDDs, but I built my system when SSDs were just coming on the market and write speed was an issue at that time. Thanks for the update!
