    Hello Rollin, beautiful image, beautiful bird. Last time I looked at one of your images you were shooting Cannon with a 600mm, now it is Nikon with a 500mm. Wonders what I will see next week. You have some dollars tied up in lenses.

    Thanks Joe, my first attempt at bird photography was with the Nikon D70s and Nikon 500mm f4, which had no auto focus. I loved the the little Nikon but the telephoto lens was heavy and difficult for me to handle even on a Wimberley, though when focused properly it was a very good lens. I sold both and switched to Canon. Thus most of my bird photography since 2006 has been with Canon equipment. I just dug up this older image because the male Meadowlark in his breeding colors is a very vivid yellow, though the resolution is a little off.
