    First Attempts Tamron 60mm Macro

    Hello,

I have finally stashed away enough to get myself a Macro lens. After much research and reading I decided to go with the Tamron 60mm f2.0. I have always wanted a dedicated macro lens since I first got into photography about a year and a half ago and finally the dream is realised. I think it is going to take a fair bit of work to get familiar with the lens and shooting macro in general. Of course now that I have my lens the weather has decided to turn feral, very windy and cloudy, not to mention cold. I have had to resort to setting up something to shoot as well as the old faithful dog, and I managed to come across some bees. I am looking forward to trying this lens in as many ways as I can think of. Hope you like.

    Cheers

    J

Jason, Welcome to the world of macro. All great shots demonstrating both the quality of this lens and your technique but No 2 is my favourite.

Tamron have certainly got a good reputation for their macros and some say they are on a par with the Nikon equivalents.

Great shots Jason. #2 is my favorite, but #4 gets honorable mention since I'm a dog lover

I think #2 and #4 illustrate the capabilities of this lens. I am in the same phase with my 90mm Tammy, I have found that is excellent for macros (Duhhh!) and quite capable for portraiture. I am still struggling to control depth of focus and have learned that a homemade plamp is a godsend. I'm sure you will become friendly with stacking, I generally find that CS4 is adequate for the job.
