    Free Photo Software Article

    Hi all,

I was asked during discussion of one of the treads here by some of the members of the forum to post an article I had written about free photography software. I decided a fresh thread was the best way to go as it would be accessible without having to search through a thread.

If you have any suggestions or comments for the article please let me know. I am willing to update it if there is something that I didn't find when researching for it.

Also if you have any thoughts or ideas about the site those would be welcome also. I just published the website today, and it is still under major construction.

A good work-in-progress and very useful to many!

Would comment that Picasa 3 can be set up in Tools>Folder Manager so that it only updates certain folders, not the whole hard drive (which is indeed a pain). Also in the Folder Manager it can be set to 'scan once', 'always scan' or even 'remove folder' (from the scanning process, not the drive).

    Thanks Ted,

I have not used Picasa extensively since version 2.4, so it is good to know that that issue is now an option. I have basically become a reference for editing techniques and software in my camera club, so any additional information is useful.

G'day from the land down under, Will. I think you will find that Rawtherapee is available for Windows as well as Linux.

Thanks Bruce for the comment, I have my second post up and am almost finished editing the second half of the article, which will likely by my third post.
