Not a lot wrong with that shot, Matt.
If you want to try some alternatives, cropping tighter to remove some of the sky and left side to concentrate more on the boat may be worth a go. Perhaps also consider 5 x 4 ratio; maybe even 4 x 5 would work if you also lose part of the right edge.
Great photo. Great day sailing. Good job
It's such a nice image that I wish you had provided a larger size.
I am having trouble getting the images to show up any larger (Even if I upload a larger size). Any hints??
Once you upload a larger image, when it appears in the thread clicking it makes it possible for us to see the larger size.
I wonder if you accidentally uploaded the wrong file. Clicking the image doesn't produce a larger image.
Which method are you using for uploading, Matt? HELP THREAD: How can I post images here?
First image is 640 pixels at the long edge and is 93 kb while the second is 700 pixels but only 55 kb. Are your photos being automatically resized somewhere along the way?
I am exporting the image out of Aperture and then adding it to my CiC albums. Then linking it o my posts.
I was trying to conform to the 700 x 700 size requirement. Is this not necessary.
Matt: No it's not necessary to link posts to your CiC albums. I don't use CiC albums so I don't know what the size requirement is there.
Notice the link that Geoff provided in his post. If you use the TinyPics method explained at that link, you can quickly post an image directly from your computer. I post images that are sized at the native resolution of my monitor. They are displayed at the small size in the threads. Clicking them displays the larger size. If you post several images, we can click the first one and automatically review all of them at the larger size.
Matt. If you use a CinC Album your images will be auto resized to 700 pixels max and 150 kb size. But this may have changed slightly recently.
For Tinypics uploads or links directly to my P base site I find that 1000 pixels with an 80% Jpeg works fine. You can go a bit bigger but I forget the exact limit. I think it is on that link which I gave you previously.
Hi Matt,
The first came out at 1023px × 790px.
The second probably came out full size and was downsized without sharpening by TinyPic to 1,599px × 1,235px - this isn't as sharp as it could be.
There's little point in posting at more than 1000px tall because many LCD screens are either 1050px or 1080px tall, so if it exceeds that you won't see it all at 100% and the browser will downsize, also making it look softer.
Here's the best advice I can give.
Cheers,
