Back from vacation, first of the crop.

Back from vacation, first of the crop.

This is the first picture I upload from my trip. I would appreciate your comments. As time permit I will upload some more. Its was a great vacation, around 2000 kilometers traveled by car. Birds, bugs, flowers, montains, sunsets, lakes, rivers and mooses! It is a lot to take in all at once, looking at all the photos (1,000 more or less) all I can say is what a great province we have, man its big. More to come.

I like the use of a fully open blossom and fully closed blossoms. Nice color and composition too! Consider a crop that includes only the color green in the background for increased drama.

    Hi Louise,
The second photo is my pick. Maybe increase the exposure or brightness in pp.
Look forward to the rest of the photo's. Especially the moose's, don't get many here in Tasmania
    Cheers, Greg

Very nice, great sharpness in the flower, nice colour against the blurred green, waiting for more.

    Cheers:

Not sure if it's just the crop, Louise, but the second version looks quite a bit sharper.

What a great photo! What type of lens were you using?

Hi Bruce, thank you. I got real close to the water, I was using my favorite 100mm, 2.8, macro lens. Its good for pictures as well as macro, the quality of the image is good compare to my kit lenses.

The only thing I would consider changing, Louise, is to crop off a very small amount from the top, and a similar amount from the right side to retain the same size ratio.

I agree with the others, Louise: The second version of the flower and image of the duck are terrific.

Thank you Mike. The duck is one of my favorite too. The males were loosing their mating plumage and not pretty to look at. Cropping is always a difficult exercise for me. What to take out, what to leave in the pic, what size? I found out that to print it is better to respect the ratio of the picture, I tought it did not matter on the net?
