The first one is definitely my favorite. Love it!
It's my favorite also, Luc. When I came upon this scene, I immediately thought of an image by Berenice Abbott made in 1937. It shows a bakery with a man walking up from the basement onto the sidewalk carrying a huge basket filled with loaves of bread. This Lucky Strike restaurant and bar has the exact same type of entry onto the sidewalk but, unfortunately, nobody was around for me to talk to to arrange a similar image. Sadly, I am unable to find Abbott's image on the Internet, which is part of her Bleecker Street series, as I really would have liked to share it with you.

I love them all but I am really drawn to the last one. I can't really say why. I love the perpective but I think it's nostalgic. The first thing that popped in my mind was Superman. Probably not what you were going for.![]()
"Superman" works just fine for me, Terri.![]()
All excellent shots, cannot pic one over the other. Nice work.
Glad you like them, Bobo. Thanks for stopping by!
Open till 4amWhat is that thing in the middle window of the middle one, and what is that cylinder on top? I like the middle one but the cafe reminds me of a local club in my hometown; but that closed at 12:30am

I lived in NY for a few years as a kid, and those shots bring back some memories. All are good but that first one is a crackerjack image, Mike. Really top flight in my book. I love the contrast and the composition.
Sorry ..am late to this.
Beautiful set Mike...all very evocative but like the others #1 is my favourite.
You can almost feel the presence of the many, many souls who have entered and left by that door. Excellent.
I would hope so!
I like all these images....oddly it brings back memories of holding my grandfather's hand and walking down a big city street, the things I could see as I looked up.....
Nat: I'm so glad to know that these photographs brought back fond memories. Thanks for passing that along.
