    Light in the Park

This is one of those images that I can't decide whether I like it or not. The background is busy but doesn't seem to detract from the lamp. I could apply a Lens Blur to the background but I wonder if it wouldn't leave the lamp to - 'uninteresting'?

Perhaps it is already too uninteresting? Oh well. It is an experiment in trying to see what folks love - or hate in an image. As for me, I can't seem to decide if I should keep or toss.

Hm, since it looks like the light is already on, how about having some play with the background (darkening) to give it more of a "night time" feel?

To be honest, Frank, I can't think of any way to make that scene appeal to me. Maybe a nice blue sky showing through the leaves might help. Alternatively return at night and see what happens.

Although getting arrested for lurking in the dark bushes might be the result.

If it was a different design of lamp, with plenty of decorative ironwork etc it might prove more exciting.

Thanks for the feedback Kris and Geoff! Why didn't I think of that! I tried but this isn't as easy as I would have thought...

Perhaps we should change the title to Light in the Dark?

That is much better, Frank. A touch of mystery there; almost like a scene from a Hitchcock film.

Huge transformation from the first to the second image. Well done!

Consider cropping a little off the top.

Thanks Geoff and Mike. Perhaps it's worth saving after all.

I was looking for an excuse to clone out the post label. Thanks Mike.
