    Looking Out

Took this picture this morning, I like the colours and the composition but not sure about the shadow.

    C&C please.

    Cheers Colin.

Colin, your eye will tend to go first to the lighest part of the photo (in this case the sand). I do not think the shadow is much of a distraction. Good composition. Bruce

You can't lose the shadow in this sort of shot, so the other option is to make it part of the scene; as you have done here.

Very nice. I like shadows in some photos they help make it work.

I am a bit like Donald. I tend to go with a gut feeling on what looks good rather than to get too hung up on too much techno stuff. And for me shadows give depth, realism and character to a shot. Without them the whole thing seems flat and lifeless. I like what your shadow adds to the shot. But having said that, please be warned that I am rather a novice in these matters. I haven't quite got the hang of the walking on water bit as yet!

Thank you Ken I feel flattered by your appraisal. Having seen some of your posts, I as a rank beginner at this photography caper am facing a huge learning curve. I would love to get to your standard one day.

    Cheers Colin.
