    Grevillia Macro

This shot is of a Grevillia Tiridifolia in Arnhem Land yesterday. This magnificent wildflower is in full bloom and stopped me in my tracks. Taken with the 100mm macro, 1/125, F20, 1000 ISO hand held. Please C&C.

    A beautiful flower indeed, Wayne.

Because the orange stems with their yellow tips are all the same size and have the same prominence in the composition, I would have preferred to see them all in focus. This would take getting the flower to be parallel to the lens to keep all of the tips within the DoF.

I can easily understand why. We don't have any of those in Glenfarg.

I agree with Frank's comment. I think it needs the complete flower head to be in focus.

The lighting is not as good, but the DoF is much better. Now you just need to combine the two elements in the one image.

Yes, I think the DoF is only half the problen in the first photo as it was windy and the 1/125 was not fast enough. Its a constant learning curve shooting macro, so I will know a little more next time. Thanks for your comments Frank and Donald.

Thanks Frank, here will be plenty more at this time of year and I wont have to travel to Arnhem Land to see wildflowers, they will be all around Darwin City :-)
