    Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree

    Well it's a pine tree actually. I don't take a lot of bird shots but every so aften have a crack. This Kookaburra was hanging around our house this afternoon. The tree is fairly dominant but I thought this added a bit of context to the shot. I'd appreciate your thoughts. I was also a bit lucky with the light.

    Hi Dave. A sharp image, great pose, excellent colouring and bokeh. On the personal preferences side, I'd use some LCE on just the Kookaburra and reduce the background contrast a bit to make the subject 'pop' a bit more from its surroundings but there is certainly nothing wrong with this image that way you have it. The bird and tree complement each other very nicely, IMHO. Nice capture!

    Well I suppose you could crop out part of the left side so it only shows half of the trunk then crop the right side to give a 4 x 5 ratio image. Or another variation along those lines.
