    The 1:1 was what I was thinking about. I had not thought about also lightening the background. Indeed, now that you have made it a 1:1 image, I think what is left of the background would work better being as in your original; i.e. very dark.

    Donald, I liked it better dark also. How is this one, after fiddling with it so much, I am not sure whether it is better or worst?In my backyard.

    That's it. I think this third version is definitely the strongest image of the three.

    Maybe other people will come on and tell us which they think is better.

    Although I often like white borders, in this case I belatedly vote for the no border version since the borders seem to fight with the black and white stripes on the head of the bird.

    I've spent some time comparing the two frozen flower versions. Part of me is intrigued by the abstract effect of this shot. Another part of me is not gripped, perhaps because I've never been a great appreciator[?] of abstract works.
    I've been unable to figure out what type of flower it was. My initial thought was a dandelion but I think it must be something else.
