    Flower...Red & White Amerilis C&C Appreciated

I shot this recently outside in a flower bed. I decided to develop it as a art print because the background was busy and unattractive. So I isolated the flower, chaged the background to a solid color and added post crop vignette. Your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated.

Very nicely done, Joe! I also took a look at your SmugMug images - a fine collection indeed!

Joe, nice detail in there and good color. I keep wanting to scroll down so I can see in it a little more. lol The comp certainly has kept me busy for a moment or two.

Thanks Frank. I also have looked at your SmugMug images and would say the same.

Much appreciated Paul. The background was horrible but I like the flower. I think I might try another version and use Gaussian Blur in Photoshop Elements to see what a controlled blurring of the background might do.

Yes try some other backgrounds, Joe.

That shot is possibly a bit 'full frontal' so placing it onto that background without any stem etc does make it look a little 'lost' to me.

Maybe a matt black background, or even a nice sky. That may look somewhat odd but possibly sufficiently 'artistically weird' to work.

Hi Joe, I love flowers and pictures of them intrigue me. I find it hard to get the proper DOF and I think you have done it well. I am still looking for the stem to anchor it, it seem to be "floting a bit". Was the stem salvagable?

Thanks Geoff and Louise, your viewing and comments are much appreciated. I agree with both of you that a stem would make it more anchored. I was lazy at the time and made the selection to only include the flower. I shall work on a different compostion and see what I can come up with. Thanks again for your time to view and comment.
