I have been meaning to try this type of photo since Colin posted the inspirational image - I'm a little slow to it sometimes! (if anyone can provide a link that would be awesome)
Overall I like this photo, not sure I didn't blow out the white a little. Do the darks need to be darker? Any comments appreciated.
Also, posting this from smugmug link, not sure how that will work out.

    Picture perfect Brian! Love it.

Update: One thing by the way, this is just picking it closely. I would touch up her face where is shows a little vain to her left forehead.

I'm no font of knowledge when it comes to makes pictures of people, but it looks the real deal to me. One thing I wondered was what would be the impact of a very slight global darkening. I don't think the darks need to be darker in the context of the overall image as it stands, but I wonder if taking everything just back a notch would give it more depth?

I am quite content to be informed that I am way wide of the mark here.

Thanks guys. I tweaked the first one per Chriss comments.
Donald, I hate to go any darker, simply because I like all the bright beautiful colors, but something is just a hair off in the contrast/brightness to me.

Here's another, I like the expression better, but not sure about the background color with the umbrella.

Here's one of my daughter's friend.

Here's another with a prop, I think it's pretty cute and suits her friend's personality. I darkened the lower right corner a bit, but don't think I got it quite right. What do you think?

Yeah the first image is better. I like it how she's looking at the camera.
