    Baboon

We were camped under a huge Sausage Tree (Kigelia africana) when a troop of baboons came past. They took a liking to the fruit that had fallen from the tree. The skin is remarkably tough but this baboon had little trouble tearing through to get to the fleshier inside.

    C&C welcome

Wonderful piece of work, Clive. My compliments. You nailed the focus on that beautifully. A top-drawer wildlife image.

    Hi Clive,

Yes another fine image from you, I always look forward to seeing your 'little slice of African life'.

This one certainly shows the rough fruit and even has action in slight movement blur in the hand and fruit, while the face and eyes are nice and sharp.

    Well done,

Little late to the party here but I agree with the above, very well done Clive. He looks to be contemplating something.....maybe how to get that fleshy fruit out or maybe who is the guy spying my fruit!

    Re: Baboon

Hi Richard, thank you. I didn't use flash. However I was sitting on a chair in front of my white Landcruiser and by sheer luck I think it reflected a lot of light onto the Baboon.

Hi James, thank you. Baboons can be very aggressive and bold they will raid any unattended campsite for food and stand their ground if threatened. This troop were all around us and were no problem at all, my wife and I sat very quietly and they got on with feeding, grooming etc. The one in the picture sat less than ten metres from us.
