Re: wasps in my garden
I do like this photo, but my eye keeps going to right side of the photo, could it perhaps do with a tighter crop?

Re: wasps in my garden
Jason,
That's just a honey bee (I'm sure Geoff will correct me with the exact species), not a wasp.
I agree with Kerry on the tighter crop, and I'd also consider a rotation of either 180 or 90 degrees (that doesn't always work, but worth a look).

Re: wasps in my garden
I really need a close look at the wing veins to be sure but it looks very 'furry' for any wasp that I can think of.
Early worker honey bees can be quite small and there are a variety of fairly small early Andrena species of bees around now.

Re: wasps in my garden
Hi
Must say it looks like a bee to me. I don't know of any species of wasp has that coloration and appearance that is native to the British Isles.
Perhaps you could enlighten us as to the species?

Re: wasps in my garden
Hey Jason - rather than trying a crop perhaps try a rotation and make it a portrait. You've got a lovely bokeh in that shot which I think with the right perspective will add to the photo rather than take away from your.... ah... winged critter
