    Before my LR4 beta expires....

No Photoshop involved - strictly the new LR4.
Played with just about every slider until I got something acceptable. (Or not??)
The flower smells like bubblegum and only lasts 1 day, but I have no idea what kind of tree it is.

    Before my LR4 beta expires....

I think it is acceptable. The flower stands out really well against the leaves.

The leaves and particularly the flower structure suggest a Magnolia, but I could not say which one. There are a lot of species of Magnolia and many more cultivars.

Definitely not a magnolia - We have about 20 of those. The flowers are just slightly larger than my thumb nail.

It does remind me of a magnolia by the shape of the leaves and the shape of the stamen. Could it be some sort of sweet olive? What kind of fruit does it put on? I've never seen anything like this in my neighborhood (southeast TX)

A quick google search comes up with the Port Wine Magnolia. There are some images that look like yours. Think this may be what you have. Check out this website.

This is in S.E Texas in Liberty County (Rye). We have 2 of these trees, and way too many magnolias.
Unlike our magnolias, they only get flowers once a year - and this year they were at least 6 weeks earlier than usual.
Ans when the leaves drop, it's one holy mess!
    They don't get any fruits...

Maybe I've missed something, but I've never seen a Magnolia bloom outside of May/June. As it's one of my favorite scents, I wouldn't mind more bloom time

That's really pretty. My vote is for some kind of magnolia, too. Can you post a "before" shot so we can see the wonders of LR4? I just ordered it recently and it should be here any day now.
