    Christ Church College, Oxford

Yesterday we were fortunate enough to attend Sung Matins at Christ Church Cathedral, being part of Christ Church College in Oxford. This enabled us to walk through the impressive students entrance and through the grounds of the college without there being too many other people about.

This is image is looking back at the students entrance.

    Very nice Chris,

It looks like fate was kind and softened the sunlight too
Enough to give 'modelling' but not harsh shadows.

I have a few pics of the (free) publically accessible colleges when Rebecca and I visited a few months ago. I really must stop posting here and actually do something with them!

I am undecided with yours whether to suggest doing anything with 'perspective' - I use the term loosely since, from your offset shooting position, I think the opposite wall is fine. Therefore it is natural that the two extremes, left and right, won't have the same angle of tilt - but should they be made vertical, I'm really not sure.

I guess that's the back end of a red bus on St. Aldate's we see through the entrance?

    Cheers,

    Thanks for your comments Dave.

There are some wonderfull photo opportunities to be had in Oxford as many of the old colleges are open to the public. To do it justice you have to commit quite a lot of time and be very lucky with the weather.

I have been thinking about the red bus and on balance think it should go. I used a Canon EF 17-40 mm L lens, which produced some pretty servers lens distortion. I have done quite a bit of work on it, however my attempts at sorting out the right hand wing have only made things worse.

Only been to Oxford once (neice was graduating).

The success of this, in my opinion, is that is very successfully captures and conveys the grandeur of the place. Not every image you see manages to do this.

    Nice work, Chris.
