    Coming in to land

Was just up at Hampstead Heath - beautiful winters evening and a cracking sunset. Saw some swans circling overhead and Im knew they were getting ready to land at one of the ponds. I waited and was lucky that they decided to come in almost directly over my head. I took this somewhat luckily and thought I'd post it for you all

Let me know what you think.

    A good one there, Tommy.

I like the light on and through the wings, and the feet!

Birds in flight are never easy but I think the larger water birds coming into land are very deceptive. They look quite slow but come in at speed.

That's a super image Tommy. Enormously challenging to get the exposure correct. It would ahve been easy to have a nice sky and a black silhouette of the swan. But you've nailed it beautifully. At the same time you've produced a lovely (and different) image.

Love it - made me smile. Reminds me of someone about to do a belly flop onto somebody else

    Sweet image Tommy...

Spent many an hour trying to capture something like it, and so far have
"crashed and burned" at every attempt.

This one, however, has full-flaps extended as well as the landing gear acting
as speed brakes...nose slightly elevated and a little left rudder is being applied..
    ...he's definitely on final approach!

Thank you all or your kind comments

I was lucky with how the light fell on its wings - it helped somewhat with the exposure

A really good shooting angle! Unique, yet completely natural. It reminds me of a Boeing 747 coming in for a landing. Magnificent!

    Thanks guys!

It really did look like a plane coming into land. It was an awesome sight! Especially being so close.
