Amazing what a spoonful of sugar (er, um, flies!) will make a froggy do for you! Um, maybe I should have posted this under Pets, as this gray tree frog comes back to the same place every year now for 3 years, and "No frogs were hurt during the shooting process!" I have been thinking about writing a children's story around this froggy, and making plans on how to take some photos to illustrate the book....my grand-daughter just loves the frog.....

I suppose, in a perfect world, a better sky would have made this into a prizewinner. The focus and exposure are excellent.

Thank you, again, Geoff.....about the sky, guess I should have waited for the clouds to move about, and gotten more blue skies. I want clouds in the skies most of the time, but maybe a rich all blue would have been advantage to this closeup....Here is another shot of the same frog....not sure of the crop...it was so up and down and centered I tried for a better angle...

I used Filter:Render:Lighting effects: omni to bring out the face of the frog in both images, just a tiny bit to brighten them.
Yes, Yvonne. Frogs hibernate under rocks in the ground over winter. I have not seen another one, so I have not seen any babies. Just a lonely frog. (but he can't say, "Ain't got a home")

Now that second photo, Nat, has an area of perfect blue sky.

But just another thought. Try cropping tighter to the top so as to just remove that upper bit of grey cloud and leave just blue sky above the frog.

This will mean changing the width/height ratio. I'm just holding a piece of card against the screen but this removal of the grey really seems to change everything and creates an exceptionally good photo.

And with the first shot, I wonder if there is sufficient contrast between the mushroom and grey sky to replace the sky?

    Love these Nat,

And didn't I see a "sheltering from the rain" one in a Mini Comp the other day? That must have been yours

Okay, I edited this again, to remove some of the upper cloud.
