The Mission Mountains are the backdrop for a RL Hawk flying over the Mission Valley of W Montana. Lots of voles and mice for them to eat so the hawk numbers are amazing.

Those mountains just never stop providing a breathtaking and spectacular backdrop to your work, Dave. You include them so well in your images. This is no exception.

And I think that if this image is viewed not a study of a RL Hawk (because the bird is too small a prt of the overall imag), but is understood as an environmental image with a creature being seen in its natural habitat, then it becomes a beauty.

The light falling onto the bird and onto the mountains is wonderful.

For me, Dave, there is possibly a little too much sky here.

I would consider cropping a little from the right side and top, so as to put the bird slightly on the right of centre. But that does mean losing the patch of blue sky and part of the right hand peak. Alternatively, a 2 x 1 crop might just work.
