Re: High School basket Ball
Hi Rob,
All good shots for action, focus and composition, however the white balance differs; the first two are fine (of 22), but the last four have a distinctly red hue to them.
Good all the same,

What Dave said. I love that first one - the way the ball is compressing into the ground.

Re: High School basket Ball
I wonder if the red hue is something I did in post because the white balance was the same for the whole evening. I will have to go back and look to see if I can find out the reason.
Thanks for the C&C
Rob

Hi Rob
You have made a great start into a difficult subject.
I do a lot of this work, so it will be nice to have someone around with similar interests
Don't be surprised by the white balance 'quirks' as if your gym is anything like some here, the lights can actually be different colours/temperatures at different areas in the stadium. Then sometimes I go to the same stadium & if it's kids instead of paying adults, they may not have every light available actually turned on.. But this is all part of the fun for us!
Looking forward to you sharing some more.

Re: High School basket Ball
Pretty good job! Interesting note about the color temp changing with position?
Rob, were you shooting in manual?
From my own experience with shooting hockey, I find this helps, particularly with white and black uniforms. Leaving the camera in any auto exposure mode can wreak havoc deepending on what you are zooming in on.
Oh how I don't miss the days driving up and down US19!

Re: High School basket Ball
You've done a great job of stopping the action and the shots are very sharp. Were you able to get any shots where the players are driving (elevated) to the basket?
