    playing in the rain

    after a rain storm my son snuck outside in my old trainers. these images are very much spur of the moment.so looking back i wish i'd used a wider aperture but any c&c welcome.

    So cute, wonderful photos. I find the background a little busy and would have liked to have seen that blurred a little (I'm sure there's a proper word for a blurrier DoF LOL).

    You mean less DoF?.

    I think it is fine as is. A blurred background wouldn't capture as well the idea than he was playing.

    I like the concept: your child (he is cute, even with his back to the camera) and the inclusion of your gigantic (?) trainers to add some sense of proportion.
    You could play with the colours to make your son stand out a bit more, perhaps turn the background B/W (technical term is something like selective toning, I think)

    Thanks Mario LOL yes less DoF I guess Im finding the background a little cluttered?

    Paul, these are great photos in that they are sure fire keepers!
    If you want an appearance of less DOF, have you played with selective blurring of the background?
    I did very quick and crude edit and came up with this:

    Number 1 for me is the best. Thear being much strong colors in the back.
    Selective blurring of the background makes it i.d. much better. In this case, in monochrome possible too.
