Nice shot - the leaning of the trees seem to me to create a path for the eye to follow. Too bad there wasn't a rock or something where the slopes meet as a focal point - but, can't rearrange mother nature!

When faced with a scene like that, Chris, I would just think that it is too confused to work well and forget about it.

But in this case the lie of the land actually gives real depth and carries a sharp focused view right into the scene. And the angle of light avoids over clutter.

    Thanks Geoff-

Yup, so it's winter in Minnesota and yet here it was 60 degrees and no snow... so I thought "get to hike in and see a part of the park in winter that you never ever get to see..." but the end result was everything being sticks and branches... beautiful to be in but all the shots in color, while they reflected pretty well what the eye saw, were very busy and cluttered no matter where you aimed. I shot a lot of close-ups too for that reason.

I opted to play with B&W and post stuff just to fiddle... I do think the light interesting but it's still busy. We have an ink etching from a friend that is very similar to this seen.

    Thanks for the feedback.

This may be in Minnesota, but it looks just like the woods here in NY.
I have tried to shoot similar images, but mine did not make it. Yours does keep the eye and I like the lighting as well.
