    Loading Wharves at Night

While off on my Xmas adventures I decided I wanted to take some urban night photos, something I do very little of... so below are the results of one night's attempt, which are more industrial urban than just the city lights

Although the reflection in #1 is good, I think it has too much water in it. #2 and #3 are beauties.

I agree with Donald, great colours but better with less foreground. Night lights over water generally get great results. For even better light be there at dawn and the lights will still be effective, with some more colour in the water. Wonderful photos.

#2 & 3 very impressive! Great work. I can't wait to see how you progress with your night shots if this is how you're getting started.

    Re: Loading Wharves at Night

Thanks guys! I was wanting to get in some practice for night lights as I was given a night-time photographic bridge climb as a Christmas pressie and didn't want to go in "cold" as it won't be a repeatable location. The only other time I've shot city lights was a dawn shoot, new year's day 2011. I enjoyed the different setting and was glad to find this particular vantage point as the other couple of places I tried were not as interesting composition-wise, even though the industry lights are all rather spectacular. Thanks for the feedback on the compositions too!

Look forward to seeing the Bridge Climb shots, take many and dont forget to use a zoom to see what you can find. Its always tempting to try and fit it all in but some tight shots alway get results.

I was looking at the first image and said to myself I would love to see a larger portion by the ship.
Well, number 2 is just what I was thinking, I love that image.
