    Weight of the World

My turn to post a picture of my beautiful wife Spur of the moment shot when I just couldn't resist capturing her at the time. No set up at all so I've done what I can with the background. She's a bit thoughtful here but that I think really brings out her eyes.

C&C welcome - just be aware that she'll be reading it too

What an absolutely stunningly, gorgeous ... (how am I doing so far?).

I want to hear Kerry's view of it before I comment!

She let me post it for C&C so it's fine She always likes the way her eyes come out in some of these shots but thought she was a bit too serious.

She is lovely indeed, Malcolm. One thing that you might want to check into if you are planning to do more portraiture is eye retouching. Even if you don't do any other facial retouching, adding some subtle sparkle to the eyes is relatively easy and will enhance even the most beautiful face.

    Hi Malcolm,
my only comment relates to the background. I know you never 'set up' the shot and just wanted to capture your wife's natural beauty at the spur of the moment; which I think we all agree you have done well. Both my wife and I agree she has lovely eyes.
Anyhow, back to the background I would have liked to see the mirror frame displayed, hence (if you pardon the pun) framing her face using the frame, if that makes sense.
Cannot wait to see what others advise.

I would consider cropping the left side a little, although it would mean changing the aspect ratio, and darkening that bright spot. The right side is perfect.

Beautiful face, well captured Malcolm! For me the background is not a problem as those wonderfull eyes grab attention. However (sorry about this), the highlight from the hairclip on the back of your wifes head stands out a little too much for me. No offence intended, still a great shot.

Sorry but Geof got in while I was typing.

Here's the update - left side cropped a bit (too hard with my limited abilities to get rid of the hotspot) and eyes brightened a little - although if anyone has any reading material on how to do that well I'd appreciate it!

Excellent. Much more 'alive' and bright. The work on the eyes has made all the difference. Now it 'pops'.

I do look a wee bit serious dont I? It was very hard to apply my 'face' (my make-up) whilst hubby was shooting away But you've made me look luverly darling LOL not bad for a 40+ old gal.

Malcolm, the revision is a nice improvement in my opinion. The eyes are much more catching, which is what makes me wonder what she is thinking about. Read my post above for suggestions on eye twinkling.

Just experimenting with B&W finishes that suit Kerry best. C&C appreciated on whether you think this one works or not

The difficulty with Kerry and mono is that she has such wonderful colours going on with that gorgeous red hair and blue eyes.

I like that there is a touch of colour left in the above rendition because you can still sort of tell what her colouring is.

    Nice work...both of you.

Lovely images all of them. I didn't notice the hair clip in the first image until it was mentioned. I was concentrating on the eyes which are the center point of interest for me in each image...

"But you've made me look luverly darling LOL not bad for a 40+ old gal."

BTW, Kerry, a 40 year old is still a young chick! My daughter just passed her 40th and she's still a damn good looking gal too!
